Thank you for choosing CenturyLink for your internet service. If you are providing your own modem for your service, there are a few things you'll need to know about installation and activation.
If you have not already done so, please verify that your modem is compatible with your new service. If you are re-using a newer CenturyLink modem, it will most likely work. To be sure, check our compatibility page and contact us with any questions.
If you are installing a CenturyLink modem that you already have from previous service, do the following:
Note about line activation: Your line should be activated no later than 7 p.m. on your service start date, at which point you can connect your modem.
If you are using a non-CenturyLink modem, first you'll need to verify that it meets the technical requirements to work with our service, including supporting VLAN tagging 201. Keep in mind that many third-party modems do not work with CenturyLink service.
Modems from cable-internet providers will not work with CenturyLink service.
If you have a modem that you think will work, chat with us to get the credentials you need to manually enter into your modem settings:
You will not be able to connect your modem to our network without these credentials.
A subscription to Personal TechPro gives you on-demand support for your non-CenturyLink modem, and all other devices that connect to your WiFi network.
